Who We Are
Friends of the Lutheran Church in Norway (FOLCIN) is a forward-thinking, non-for-profit organization headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, USA. We formed and incorporated in Illinois on April 22, 2024 as a 501(c)(3) charity and provide charitable contribution receipts for each donation. Donors should consult with their own tax professionals to determine the tax-deductible eligibility of their donations.
Our purpose is to support the various ministries of the Lutheran Church in Norway (LCIN). We reach people with a passion for sharing the Gospel and church planting and we do this through networking and social media platforms to make them aware of LCIN’S ministry. Many of these people would not have otherwise learned about LCIN before learning of our charity. And many would also not have otherwise given so generously.
We employ no one and are simply and effectively managed by our board of directors. Due to our efficient organizational structure, we have minimal operational costs. Consequently, we are able to grant most of the money contributed to us directly to our ministry beneficiary – the Lutheran Church in Norway.
FOLCIN respects and acts in accordance with the doctrine and practices of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) set forth in the Scriptures and as espoused in the Lutheran Confessions. All of our board members are members-in-good-standing with an LCMS member congregation.
FOLCIN affirms that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and that all who confess their sins and believe that Jesus is their Savior will be with Him in heaven and eternal joy after they die; that the Scriptures are the inspired and inerrant Word of God, and ascribes to all the symbolical books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as a true and unadulterated statement and exposition of the Word of God; that the Lutheran Confessions as articulated in the Book of Concord of 1580, are drawn from the Word of God and thus that their doctrinal content is a true and binding exposition of Holy Scripture.
