 Meet Reverend Gunstein Innvaer

He is a church-planting pastor with the Lutheran Church in Norway, the only confessional Lutheran church body in Norway. Reverend Innvaer is married and has three children. He lives in the little village of Kautokeino, which is about 175 miles north of the Arctic Circle, and where reindeer graze freely. The town is populated by the Sámi – the indigenous people of the far northern reaches of Norway. Reverend Innvaer, who was originally from southern Norway, moved to Kautokeino in August 2025 to begin his ministry there. He is trying to quickly learn the culture of the Sámi and their language, so that he can preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to his congregants in their own language. Watch the video by Reverend Innvaer to learn more about his ministry and some of the challenges that he faces.
