The Lutheran Church in Norway’s (LCIN) Narvik congregation continued to renovate the old abandoned church that was purchased late last year. From June through July, LCIN hosted five volunteer work teams from the Chicago area to help with the project. Teams came from Trinity, Lisle, Our Savior Carol Stream, Trinity Roselle, and St. James Chicago – about 45 people total.
The work consisted mainly of renovating the coffee room/apartment and stripping the exterior of siding and then residing the three-story exterior. There was plenty of sanding, painting, cleaning, assembly of cabinetry and counter tops, installation of stove ventilation, removal of the exterior siding on three sides of the building and then installing newly painted siding while keeping the look of this historical site as close to original as possible!
Well, the bulk of the work has been completed and the Grand Opening will be August 15th and 16th!
